The Story

My name is Cory, and I’m a web developer and system administrator living in Altamonte Springs, FL. I’ve lived in Florida my whole life, and went to college at the University of Central Florida. Web development had been a hobby of mine for a few years before I decided to really try it as a career.

I was a civil engineer / project manager before I made the switch. Initially I was able to work at the same job I had, and perform all the computer duties for the company (as well as my normal job too). After a while, I realized I was getting as far as I could by staying their, so I left. I started at NFi studios with a very minimal understanding of what a design pattern was.

By the time I left NFi, I had a very good grasp of the MVC and how to install it (heh heh). I spent a short period of time as a freelance web developer, before I was picked up by Hydra Studio. After working on some very large projects there, I moved on to start my own company, Hacked For BBQ. When that pretty much tanked, I got a gig at EA Tiburon, which was cool, then at Phase 2 Technology, and now I’m at EZ Yield.

My language specialties are PHP and Javascript. I love Zend Framework and have a healthy obsession with all things jQuery. While I’ve managed (and still do) a number of Windows servers, I’m a big fan of Ubuntu Linux and I recommend it often.

When I’m not doing computer things to pay the bills, I’m usually helping my wife out with our twin babies. They’re the most amazing occurrence in my life. My life has 2 periods, before babies, and after. When I get the time, I also crossfit incessantly

Currently, my favorite side project is Florida Death Metal. Death Metal started in Florida, though you might not know that by listening to the slew of bands coming from Scandanavia. FLDM is my attempt to help promote the scene that started it all.
