Up And Went Wordpress

May 20th, 2008 — 6:16pm

I use WordpressSo, I had to rebuild my site lately. I’d heard a lot about the new version of Wordpress lately. No my site is on wordpress.

For a while, I’ve heckled folks who keep their blogs on wordpress. I guess I really shouldn’t have, since it really is an awesome tool. It’s lightweight, quick, and gets the job done with super-ease.

I’ve settled on a pretty minimalistic, if not Gator-esque theme for the site. I don’t want people to have any sort of hassle to see what I’ve got to say, so I elected to not add too much to this.

Anyways, I just thought I’d say something about it…

End of an era

April 24th, 2007 — 6:20pm

I’m cleaning out my old office. It’s completely depressing. I’m moving on, and I’m starting with a company far closer to home, NFI Studios. I’m really excited to start. The company is a much better fit for me, professionally and personally but right now I’m facing the end of nearly 3 years of my life.

There’s so much history here. I don’t even know where to begin. So, I’m really bummed.

I’m staying on here as a consultant, since I know more about the network here than anyone else would. But it won’t be the same. Tomorrow when I drive out of here, I leave my office behind. I don’t even have my own office where I’m going.

I guess one of the biggest bummers about all of this is I’m not going to see my dad every week. Dad was tough when I was growing up. But these days, I can’t really imagine not having him around.

So I’m leaving to go to dad’s place now. The last Tuesday night dinner.

Eat Crow

Apple ComputersFor years I’ve sung the praises of Microsoft. For an equal length of time I have criticized the hype behind Apple. It appears I’ve been wrong for a long time.

By chance, I wound up with a new Apple MacBook. My boss’ daughter broke the screen on hers. It was as much to replace the screen as it was to get a new computer. So, they got the new computer. They asked me to get the data off of the old computer and on the new one.

They left the old one with me.

I figured I could use it for something (target practice maybe), so I went to the local Apple store and got an external video adapter for it. Then I went crazy and got a new Samsung 22″ widescreen monitor too (Samsung SyncMaster 226BW).

I hooked the thing up and started playing around. I’ve been amazed at how simple thing are with this. I don’t know how I’ve been so wrong for so long.

It figures I suppose. My mother-in-law will be giving me hell.
